About Us

Mattra all started in 1984 in a very humble way with only two persons Mr Afzal Hossain and Mr Sanaul Arefeen on board and a very big vision— the vision of being big, very big. This agency changed the face of local communication— it brands communication or social communication.

Mattra came into being at a time, when advertising (and communication, in general) in Bangladesh was at a nascent stage; when advertising meant shouting out brand name repeatedly; when celebrities were the core strength of a brand or a message; when positioning was a foreign word. Mattra pioneered a revolutionary change that was followed and imitated by most of the local players till the time of globalization in the early 1990s
Since inception so today, Mattra has always been a thoroughbred Bangladeshi agency that can claim to have the best understanding of anything that is typically Bangladeshi— be it the consumer psyche or the indigenous values and norms.

Ocean Dance Festival 2019 was organized by World Dance Alliance, Nrityajog (World Dance Alliance – Asia Pacific Bangladesh chapter) in association with Bangladesh Tourism Board, the University of Chittagong, and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. The total event was organised by Mattra.

Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is the first nuclear power plant in Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally launched the main construction work on the plant by pouring concrete at the plant site at Rooppur. The whole launching program was managed by Mattra.

Our relationship with Abul Khair Group is so long. We have worked with some of their products. Notable are Starship, Goru Marka Mara Dhew Tin, AKS TMT Bar, Cow Brand Color Coated Steel etc. Abul Khair Group also sponsored the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) through us.

Dutch-Bangla Bank

Dutch-Bangla Bank is the first joint venture bank in Bangladesh. The bank was an effort by local shareholders and the Dutch company FMO. We have been involved with the bank since its inception. We have conducted social activities with all kinds of promotional activities of the bank. The inaugural test match of Bangladesh cricket team is sponsored by the bank through us. When the bank changed the name of their mobile banking to Rocket, the cricket series was sponsored by the bank through us and it was announced all over the country.

Manusher Jonno Foundation

Manusher Jonno Foundation and partners formally launched a campaign named Morjaday Gori Shomota on April 17, 2012 through nationwide press conferences. The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs formally endorsed the campaign and were present in press conferences. Mohammad Abdul Hamid, the president of Bangladesh, inaugurated this campaign in 2014. After the inauguration the total campaign was managed and run successfully by Mattra from 2014 to 2017.

Summit Group has a long standing relationship with Mattra. Mattra has successfully done the inauguration ceremony of many power plants of summit. Besides, Victory Day Parade is also sponsored by Summit Group through Mattra.

Bachte hole Jante hobe

AIDS Once upon a time there was a regular advertisement in the media, Bachte hole Jante hobe. It was actually the first awareness campaign in Bangladesh regarding AIDS. Mattra conducted this awareness campaign from 2004 to 2014 in coordination with Save the Children and Bangladesh Ministry of Health. It caused a great stir at that time and was praised at home and abroad.
